Ottawa Public Library Programs

This is just a sampling of the many, many terrific activities put on by the Ottawa Public Library. In addition to activities of the type listed below, the library holds babytime and toddlertime story hours, mother-and-daugther and father-and-son reading clubs, homework clubs, and much more!

Note that registration is required for these activities.

To find an activity you want to register for, or to see all the activities happening at your branch, visit the library's program page and choose your branch from the pull-down menu, then click on "submit", or enter the date of the program you want to regsister for and click on "submit". You can then click on "register" and fill in the online registration form.

Beaverbrook Branch
- Let's Tell a Story

  Storytime with a twist! Make a special craft to take home!
  Ages 3-6.

Greenboro Branch
- Boredom Busters

  Bust those February blahs with stories, activities and fun crafts.
  Ages 6-8
- Hearts and Crafts
  Sat. February 11, 2012 (2 to 3 pm)
  Embrace the Valentine's feelings with stories, songs and crafts about hearts and love.
  Ages 4-7.
Main Branch
- Black History Month - Poetry and Paint
  Sat. February 18, 2012 (2 to 3:30 pm)
  Learn about slam poetry and see how to connect the beauty of words to paint. Offered in collaboration with the Library Settlement Partnership (LSP): Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO), and Ottawa Public Library. Held on the 2nd floor in the Children's Department.

- Be My Valentine

  Enjoy Valentine’s Day stories, songs, and create a Valentine craft!

Rideau Branch
- In to Me I See Quilting Workshop
  Sat. February 4, 2012 (1 to 4 pm)
  Artist, Edna J. Patterson-Petty, will help us create a 12x12 quilt square illustrating 'in to me I see'; our thoughts and how we perceive ourselves/ how others perceive us. Free workshop in partnership with the Ottawa Art Gallery. All quilting materials and embellishments provided by the Ottawa Art Gallery.

St. Laurent Branch
- Family Day Crafts
  Fri. February 17, 2012 (1:30 to 5:30 pm)
  Drop in anytime during the afternoon and make a craft or two to celebrate Family Day week-end!
