What’s On This Weekend

After yesterday’s crazy winds, I’m happy that the forecast for the weekend is calling for warm temperatures and (mostly) sunny skies. Here’s what’s free and frugal this weekend in Ottawa:

  • The Ottawa Art Gallery is hosting its last Art, Paper, Scissors Creative Sunday of the season (Sunday, 1-3 pm);
  • The Ottawa International Writer’s Festival has some free events taking place this weekend (For Grown-Ups);
  • Spring Flower Have Sprung in Gatineau Park (Sunday, 10:30 am in French, 1:30 pm in English);
  • May Flowers: Family Activities and Crafts at the Goulbourn Museum (Sunday, 1-4 pm);
  • The Research and Collections Facility of the Museum of Nature in Gatineau is having an open house (Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm);
  • Try an UrbanQuest! UrbanQuest.com is currently running a promotion -  four of their Ottawa Quests are on sale for $9.99+tax. My family and I got to try a free Quest at the Museum of Nature on Earth Day, and we had a great time. I’ll be blogging about our outing soon, and revealing details of a great deal that UrbanQuest.com will be offering frugal fans!
  • Edited to Add: Just found out about this one – Silent movie night at Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almont (Almost Frugal, Saturday 7pm)

If you’d like to plan ahead, my “Best of the Fest” Tulip Festival listing is now up. And in case you missed it, yesterday’s blog post was all about the many terrific contests that are coming up in May.

Have a great weekend!
